Legionella & Pathogen Control Copper and Silver Ionization (CSI) Systems

Copper-silver ionization systems are engineered and designed to protect clients and patients in healthcare facilities, nursing homes, hotels, large buildings and schools from Legionella and other bacteria growth in potable and utility water distribution systems. Legionella is the bacteria responsible for Legionnaires’ disease, a severe and deadly form of preventable pneumonia.

Legionella & Pathogen Control Ultrafiltration (UF) Systems

An ultrafiltration water system is a highly effective water treatment process for removing Legionella, as well as other harmful bacteria and some viruses from the water. It also removes endotoxins and the smallest of suspended solids (TSS) in water, which are often are a food source for Legionella and other bacteria. Ultrafiltration is used for safe drinking water for millions of people in cities around the world and is a proven method to pretreat fresh or seawater for reverse osmosis systems.

Ultra-violet (UV) Systems for Legionella and Waterborne Pathogen Control

An Ultra-violet (UV) water system exposes living organisms, such as Legionella, other harmful bacteria, viruses and cysts (like Cryptosporidium and Giardia) to a germicidal ultraviolet wavelength. With enough energy, UV radiation at the 254-nm wavelength disrupts the DNA in pathogenic microorganisms so they cannot reproduce. The ultraviolet light prevents Legionella from spreading disease through drinking water.

Microfiltration (MF) for Legionella and Water Borne Pathogens Control

Microfiltration is a cost-effective way to help prevent the spread of Legionella and prevent Legionaries disease. Legionella, like other harmful bacteria are larger than .22 micron. With a .2 or .1 micron Legionella microfiltration system, you can filter out bacteria as it cannot fit through the pores of the filter.

Nanofiltration for Legionella and Pathogen Control

Similar to Reverse Osmosis systems, Nanofiltration systems deliver ultrapure water through the use of a high-pressure pump and filtering through nanofiltration membranes. Nanofiltration will create purer water than ultra and microfiltration but it will do so at a higher energy consumption and higher membrane pressure.

Legionella Control Chlorine Dioxide Systems

Chlorine dioxide (ClO₂) is a disinfectant that is commonly used in hospitals, health care facilities, cooling towers, and the food and beverage industry for Legionella and pathogen control. Chlorine dioxide is usually generated onsite then injected into hot water lines to destroy bacteria like Legionella as well as other bacteria and viruses.

Chlorine for Legionella and Water Borne Pathogen Control

Chlorine (CL₂) is used as a primary or secondary disinfectant for Legionella and pathogen control for water purification, swimming pool maintenance, and wastewater. Chlorine (CL2) kills legionella and other pathogens by breaking down the bonds in the molecules and is widely used due to its effectiveness and relatively low cost.

Chloramines for Legionella and Water Borne Pathogens Control

Chloramines are most commonly used as a secondary disinfectant for Legionella and pathogen control. They are generally used in conjunction with a primary disinfectant such as chlorine. Chloramines have a longer kill time which is beneficial for Legionella control.

Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP) for Legionella and other Water Borne Pathogens

Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP) systems use complex chemistry to produce Hydroxyl radicals, which are very effective at killing legionella without pollution transfer to another another. AOP's can also be adjusted to combat different pollutants beyond Legionella as well.
