The water in the federal building and the courthousein in Honolulu was deemed unsafe to drink or use for hygiene following positive results for Legionella bacteria. Water sources in the child care center and health unit were free of the bacteria. Officials said they’re working to correct the issue and conduct additional testing. Clorox wipes were being provided in restrooms so people could clean their hands. Bottled water was being offered to employees and the public to drink. (Source)

In Honolulu, some residents at a senior housing complex were recently notified of low levels of the Legionella bacteria found at the facility. One Kalakaua senior living complex told owners and residents last week that the Legionella bacteria was found in water samples in two units. There's been seven cases of Legionnaires' disease reported in the islands this year. (Source)

Health officials have confirmed another case of Legionnaires' disease in a guest who stayed at The Grand Islander by Hilton Grand Vacations in Waikiki. (Source).

Hawaii DOH is aware of two confirmed cases of non-Hawaiʻi residents diagnosed with Legionnaires’ disease following a stay at The Grand Islander. The first case was diagnosed in June 2021 and the second case was diagnosed on March 6 or 7, 2022. (Source)
