Chris Nancrede to Present at Legionella 2026 in Zurich

Chris Nancrede, EIT, ASSE 12080, founder and president of Legionella Control Systems, has been selected to present at the 11th International Conference on Legionella. The globally preeminent Legionella conference, which is only held once every five years, will be September 7 through 11, 2026, at the University of Zurich in Switzerland.

Legionella 2026 Conference

Legionella 2026 will bring together researchers, engineers, public health professionals, water treatment experts, and other specialists from around the world. The conference will also mark 50 years since the discovery of Legionella following the 1976 outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease in Philadelphia.

Being selected to present at this specialized international conference reflects Chris’s leadership and expertise in Legionella treatment and remediation. It also gives Chris the opportunity to share his work with professionals who study Legionella from scientific, medical, engineering, and public health perspectives.

Chris Nancrede’s Presentation

As a Legionella treatment expert, Chris Nancrede has been selected to give a presentation titled “Two Chemical-Free Approaches to Controlling Legionella Growth in Building Water Systems: Dissolved Oxygen Reduction and Charged-Membrane Filtration.”

His presentation will examine two methods that may help control Legionella without adding oxidizing chemicals to a building’s water system.

The first method involves controlling Legionella by reducing dissolved oxygen in the water. This approach targets a condition that Legionella needs to maintain respiration and remain active.

The second method uses point-of-entry charged-membrane filtration to reduce the amount of Legionella entering a building’s plumbing system.

The two approaches work at different points in the water system. Charged-membrane filtration lowers the incoming Legionella load, while dissolved oxygen reduction is intended to limit growth within the treated water system.
