Below are groupings of ST108 test types, the collection device for each, and a simple description of the sample collection procedure. Also see AAMI ST108 Microbiological Quality Sampling Procedures for additional notes.
Heterotrophic Plate Count (HPC)
Collection Device: Sodium Thiosulfate Treated 120 ml BT
Summary of Procedure: HPC collected in 120 ml sealed and treated vessel. Return standard overnight on ice. Samples must be analyzed within 48 hrs. of collection.
Endotoxins
Collection Device: Sterile/Pyrogen Free Tube
Summary of Procedure: Endotoxin samples collected in 15 ml pyrogen free tube
pH, Conductivity, Chloride, Sulfate , Nitrate , Phosphate, Turbidity, Color
Collection Device: 125 ml plastic container
Summary of Procedure: Let water run for two minutes before collecting to ensure representative sample.
Total Alkalinity
Collection Device: 250 ml plastic container, no headspace
Summary of Procedure: Fill 250ml bottle completely to rim with no headspace to prevent CO2 interference.
Iron, Copper, Manganese, Aluminum, Zinc, Silicate, Total Hardness
Collection Device: 125 ml plastic container
Summary of Procedure: Let water run for one minute before collecting to ensure representative sample
Total Organic Carbon
Collection Device: 40 ml amber glass container
Summary of Procedure: Completely fill bottle. Ship in wrapping to prevent glass breakage.
